Heart of the wild cape classic11/4/2023 ![]() If it does rain in the mountains it can be a bit chilly, but not really cold. Obviously, though, we can’t guarantee this and you should be prepared for the possibility of a couple of wet days. ClimateĪt the time of year we will be visiting, South Africa should be nice and sunny, but not too hot, even at the coast. ![]() Depending on the tour, what bike you choose and how you ride it, expect to part with £150-£200 for fuel. Cash is best for fuel stations as it speeds up what can otherwise be a lengthy process. Cash points are widespread and most vendors accept credit/debit cards. Cash and travellers’ cheques can be changed at the airport and in the larger towns. You should be able to get by on around £600 spending money if you don’t do a lot of shopping/drinking and depending on tour-length. Most ‘western’ driving licences are also valid, but please also check your status before travelling. Currently UK citizens (and those from most countries) will be granted a tourist visa upon arrival. It is, however, your responsibility to check that you can legally enter the country. You will need a passport and appropriate travel insurance. The bikes used will be Suzuki DL650 V-Stroms, or the BMW F700/800GS. ![]() There will be a maximum of eight bikes available on this tour. More beautiful coastal riding will take us to Cape Agulhas (the most southerly point in Africa), before we move on to the famous Garden Route, which we will track to its end in the Eastern Cape and our base, where there is the chance to relax and enjoy a day’s safari in Addo Elephant National Park before the holiday ends. Two nights are spent in Cape Town, giving enough time to explore this world-class travel destination.įrom the glories of Cape Town we head out following the coastal road through super-scenic Chapman’s Peak to Cape Point at The Cape of Good Hope. ![]() The adventure commences at our base in Addo, near Port Elizabeth, and wends its way to Cape Town via the stunning Route 62, which carves its way though the Klein Karoo semi-desert and on into the mountainous Cape Winelands. ![]() This tour is far more of a holiday than an ‘adventure’, with plenty of time to savour the views and smell the penguins, as we take in all the great sights of South Africa’s Western Cape at a relaxed pace. ![]()
